1/16: Ask Congress to Take the Dreamer’s Pledge

NAME OF ISSUE: Passage of the Dream Act

HOUSE OR SENATE BILL #:  N/A

SUGGESTED MEMBER SCRIPT
“Hi, my name is …, I’m a constituent from “i.e., Durango” zip code 81***. Funding for the government runs out by the end of the week on January 19. With Republicans in control of Congress and the White House, it’s up to them to propose legislation and correct the problems created when Trump eliminated the DACA program back in September. Every day 122 DACA recipients lose their protection. Congress must do right by Dreamers, and refuse to vote on any funding bill that fails to protect Dreamers from deportation. I’m asking you to take the Dreamer Pledge: a commitment to vote against the January 19 spending bill unless it contains the Dream Act.

US HOUSE OF REP

Representative Scott Tipton
WHEN IS MEMBER TO CALL OR WRITE: Immediately and before January 19.

WHY THIS IS IMPORTANT: January 19 is the next opportunity for Congress to ensure the safety and protection of Dreamers by passing the Dream Act as part of any spending bill. Immigrant youth have waited too long for a permanent solution to a problem created by others, and 80% of Americans support allowing Dreamers to remain in the U.S.
