From Pueblo to Steamboat, Durango to Grand Junction, family farms on the Western Slope and San Luis Valley to the I-70 corridor, people across the 3rd Congressional District are struggling to keep faith in our future. We’re tired of waking up every day to crisis on the news. We’re tired of seeing our chances at a better life and our pride in America slip away. We’re tired of feeling like nothing will ever change.

2018 is the year we take back our America — back from influence-peddling lobbyists, back from vulture special interests, and back from self-serving politicians in Congress. Colorado can lead the way in restoring our American Dream and the nation can learn from Colorado values. It’s time we had someone in Congress with a handshake we can trust. Someone who knows what it’s like to don a uniform and serve their country, work for a living, and speak from common ground with citizens from our rural areas to our mountain towns. Someone who has shown the courage to speak truth to power. Someone who working families can trust to put Colorado first.

Chris Kennedy has been working tirelessly for years in both public and private service to bridge the gap and break through the rhetoric for common sense solutions in Western Colorado. As a Grand Junction City Council member he has worked to diversify economic dependencies, created infrastructure, and supported community development that lifts all boats. As a business owner he has created jobs and understands what it’s like to work within a budget and invest in the things that create results. Working in the non-profit space Chris has been instrumental in developing and deploying fiber optic networks across Colorado’s rural communities to help create a path to economic diversity and choice in areas severely impacted by the bust cycle of energy production.

Eight years ago voters elected a man named Scott Tipton to fight for us in Congress. He paid lip service to Colorado values, but when the time came he sold his vote to the highest bidder over and over again. For eight years Tipton has received millions of dollars from the same vulture special interests that robbed us of years of hard work and family savings. In broad daylight he’s put Wall Street profits before our ability to make a living, get the healthcare we pay for, and build a strong and fair America.

Working families can’t afford Scott Tipton anymore. It’s time for a candidate who can unite and inspire citizens from rural and urban communities across the 3rd Congressional to send him packing.

As a former Marine, Chris lives by a certain code: ”The values I live by today were developed during my service to our country with the Marines. It doesn’t matter what label society puts on us or uses to drive us apart — whether you’re brown or white, black or green, blue or red, gay or straight, female or male, rural or urban, old or young. All that matters is that my sister to my left and my brother to my right share in the mission, that we always have each other’s back, and that no one gets left behind.”

It is with this in mind that I believe that listening honestly and speaking authentically is our path forward to finding solutions to our problems and building a powerful common sense coalition capable of taking our country back.”
