Ask Sen. Coram to Vote on HB 19-1261
BILL #: HB 19-1261
NAME OF BILL: CLIMATE ACTION PLAN TO REDUCE POLLUTION
WHEN: As soon as possible; the bill has passed the House and is now in the Senate.
WHO TO CONTACT : COLORADO SENATE
Senator Don Coram (Republican)
SUGGESTED SCRIPT: “Hi, my name is …, I’m a constituent from “i.e., Durango” zip code 81***. Please vote “Yes” on HB 19-1261, the Climate Action Plan to Reduce Pollution.”
WHY THIS IS IMPORTANT: The purpose of HR 19-1261 is to reduce greenhouse gas pollution. The Bill provides for statewide goals to reduce 2025 greenhouse gas emissions by at least 26%, to reduce 2030 greenhouse gas emissions by at least 50% and 2050 greenhouse gas emissions by at least 90% of the levels of greenhouse gas emissions that existed in 2005. Climate change is happening and we need to act immediately to try to reduce its effects. The Four Corners region is 3 degrees warmer than 30 years ago. The average fire season in Colorado is longer and we are seeing problems with severe drought.
