Colorado Public Lands Day

May 19, 2018

“Our Colorado Heritage. Our Identity. Our Way of Life.”
WHEN :  Saturday, May 19

WHERE: Here, There, Everywhere! (See Local Celebrations Below)

WHY THIS IS IMPORTANT:  We are PRIVILEGED to live in a state which recognizes the essential significance of public lands with an actual State Holiday! A day that celebrates not only our connection with the great outdoors, but the powerful contribution such lands make to our economy and quality of life. Shake off your discouragements and CELEBRATE the joy that public lands have always given US.

So much is going on all around Colorado, and here are a few ways we Durangoans can participate right in our big, beautiful backyard.

  • 9am – McPhee Marina Clean-up (hosted by San Juan Mountains Association)
  • 9am – Animas River Clean-up (hosted by Artemis and others)
  • 9am – Plein Air Drawing Workshop (hosted by Durango Nature Studies)
  • 6pm – Celebrate Colorado Public Lands PARTY! (hosted by Conservation Colorado)

There is pleasure in the pathless woods.
There is rapture on the lonely shore.
There is society where none intrudes, by the deep sea and music in its roar.
I love not man the less, but Nature more.
– Byron

I promise you this, you will outlive the bastards.
– Abbey
